Sterling (12-0) continues to climb the ranks of the 135-pound division. “The Funk Master” made his promotional debut in 2014 and has reeled off four consecutive wins inside the octagon, including finishes over his last three opponents. The 26-year-old has been lobbying for a fight against Caraway for months and he’ll finally get the opportunity in May.
Caraway (20-7) only competed one time in 2015, defeating Eddie Wineland by unanimous decision at UFC on FOX 16. The five-year UFC veteran has the opportunity to knock off a top-five ranked opponent when he faces Sterling and move closer to a title shot.
UFC Fight Night 88 takes place on May 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The fight card is headlined by a fight between two unbeaten bantamweights, Thomas Almeida and Cody Garbrandt.
