Marion Reneau is unbeaten against Brazilian opponents in the UFC, and she’s the target of another Brazilian talent.
Reneau, who turns 40 years old in June, submitted UFC strawweight contender Jessica Andrade in the first round when they fought in a bantamweight bout back in 2015. Reneau flew back to Brazil two years later, almost finishing Bethe Correia in a fight that was scored a majority draw.
Ketlen Vieira, an 8-0 bantamweight who improved to 2-0 in the UFC with a win over Ashlee Evans-Smith in April, wants her next.
“I asked for Marion because she had good performances against Brazilians,” Vieira told MMA Fighting. “She submitted ‘Bate-Estaca’ and fought to a draw with Bethe, in a fight that I believe she won. That’s why I want to fight her.”
Vieira moved to Rio de Janeiro to train alongside Jose Aldo and Eduardo Dantas at Nova Uniao, and wants to prove how far she can go inside the Octagon.
“She’s a tough fighter, had an excellent run in the UFC so far, and I want to test myself,” Vieira said. “She’s a high-level fighter and caught my attention.
“I want to fight the best to continue to move up the ranking,” she continued. “I don’t know if I’ll enter the top 10 with a win, but I want to fight tough opponents to test myself and climb the ranking.”
