PHOENIX — Four years after their fight on FOX, retired middleweight Chael Sonnen and UFC contender Michael Bisping met once more in an exhibition grappling match Sunday night at UR Fight — the smorgasbord online pay-per-view from UR Show which also featured MMA, pro wrestling, and the boxing return of Roy Jones Jr. at the Celebrity Theatre.
Sonnen and Bisping first clashed in early 2012 at UFC on FOX 2, with Sonnen claiming a narrow unanimous decision to secure a UFC title shot against Anderson Silva. Bisping, weighing 212 pounds, worked to uneventful draw against Sonnen, who weighed in at 231 pounds.

At one point a “USA!” chant broke out, only to get shut down when Bisping pulled out his Union Jack mouthpiece. Sonnen finally secured the only takedown of the match with 45 seconds left in the final round, but was unable to do anything with it.
Afterwards, Bisping apologized to the fans for the slow performance, while Sonnen gave Bisping props for his recent decision victory over Silva.
“He’s the No. 1 contender, bottom line. Let’s get behind him and get him a world title fight,” Sonnen said.
In the night’s main event, boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. fought a fan/pro MMA fighter who won a contest, Vyron Phillips, and subsequently scored a massive, highlight-reel knockout. Jones Jr., 47, played around for much for the first round, only throwing out a right hand at the end which staggered Phillips. He finished the job a few minutes ….View full article
