USADA strikes UFC 205, Lyman Good pulled for possible doping violation

Former Bellator MMA Welterweight champion, Lyman Good, has been scratched from his upcoming 170-pound showdown against Belal Muhammad at UFC 205 because of a potential United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) violation.

UFC.com passed along the bad news earlier this evening with the following statement:

“The UFC organization was notified today that USADA has informed Lyman Good of a potential Anti-Doping violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collected on October 14, 2016. USADA has provisionally suspended Good based on the potential anti-doping violation. Good was scheduled to fight Belal Muhammad in New York at UFC 205. The UFC is currently seeking a replacement to fight Muhammad.”

The statement did not reveal the substance that triggered the positive result, but that will more than likely be revealed when his “B Sample” is tested for confirmation. If the result is upheld, Good be looking at a two-year suspension from the sport even though it would be just his first offense.

Good, 31, was looking to build on his successful Octagon debut — a second round knockout of Andrew Craig more than one year ago — in front of a hometown crowd inside Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y., on Nov. 12, 2016. He’ll now have to wait until this particular case is closed … and possibly much longer.
