After losing his UFC 223 opponent, Al Iaquinta, due to Max Holloway being yanked from the card at the last minute, Paul Felder has a new fight booked.
An intriguing lightweight bout between two ranked contenders is headed to Boise.
James Vick and Paul Felder are set to meet at UFC Fight Night 133 in July, MMA Today reported Thursday. UFC officials have not yet confirmed the booking.
Vick (13-1) is riding an impressive four-fight winning streak, most recently defeating Francisco Trinaldo in February. Prior to that, the Texas native picked up three straight stoppages over Joe Duffy, Marco Polo Reyes, and Abel Trujillo. His lone defeat was a first-round knockout to then-top contender Beneil Dariush in 2016.
Felder (15-3) is also on a hot streak. The No. 14-ranked lightweight has won three straight, all via knockout or TKO. His last foe was former featherweight contender Charles Oliveira at UFC 218 last December. Prior to that, he stunned Stevie Ray in Glasgow, Scotland.
Felder was expected to face Al Iaquinta last month at UFC 223, but late-replacement headliner (and UFC featherweight champion) Max Holloway was pulled from his 155-pound title fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov the day before the card. Iaquinta took his place, leaving Felder without an opponent.
UFC Fight Night 133 takes place at CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho on July 14. No main event has been announced for the card.
