Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin fought for another entertaining 12 rounds on Saturday night. After spending a total of 72 minutes competing in the ring against each other, it was the Mexican who went home as the middleweight champion.
Although many were debating the scorecards that were turned in, the two boxing superstars instead just showed a lot of respect for each other on the post-fight press conference following the contest.
Canelo called the victory “one of the best days” of his life, and spoke about how much this matters for his career. Watch the video below from his time at the podium:
Golovkin, on the other hand, may have showed some frustration when he walked out of the ring shortly after the scores were announced, but was all class when speaking to the media.
He was asked about the controversial scores, but just chose to congratulate and compliment Canelo on how he fought like a champion. He did reiterate his desire to have a third match up though.
