While one former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion, Jon Jones, is barely getting back in the good graces of his employers, a current one, Conor McGregor, is still on the outs.
And one man, Daniel Cormier, is sort of stuck in the middle of all of the drama.
No, he doesn’t have anything to do with whatever beef “Notorious” has with UFC, but Conor’s spat ultimately paved the way for “DC” to get the chance to headline UFC 200 on July 9, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada, against none other than his biggest rival, the aforementioned Jones.
So how does “DC” — the light heavyweight champion — compare the issues Jones has faced in the past with UFC to the current ones Conor is facing?
He breaks it down on “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd.
“There is a difference. The things that we’re dealing with McGregor, they are much different than what we are dealing with in Jones. When we were dealing with Jones, we were dealing with drugs and alcohol, stuff with vehicles where he was crashing them. Conor doesn’t do stuff like that. What Conor is doing is, Conor is literally just trying to make the most money that he could ever make possible. He’s after the money. He loves to compete and he loves to fight, but it’s always about the dollar with McGregor.”
Company president Dana White is adamant there are no personal problems between he and McGregor, though this guy will tell you otherwise.
