Ian McCall gets into blows with Manel Kape at the Rizin weigh-ins.
Things got out of hand between former UFC bantamweight contender Ian McCall and Manel Kape at the Rizin weigh-ins on Thursday.
McCall, who will meet Kape in the Rizin Grand Prix bantamweight quarterfinals on Friday, was slapped on the back of the head by ‘Prodigio’ and retaliated with a quick left hand. Kape tried to fire back with a punch of his own but ‘Uncle Creepy’ slipped and evaded before both men were separated and restrained by officials.

McCall, who took current pound-for-pound No. 1 Demetrious Johnson to a draw back in 2012, claims that he hit Kape with a slap, not a punch.
It was a slap. If my hand was closed he would have dropped https://t.co/SE8zcJh1pu

The 33-year-old hasn’t fought since he dropped a decision to John Lineker at UFC 183 and has been inactive due to a series of injuries and illnesses. McCall decided to part ways with the UFC in October, 2017 and will look to make a statement at the Rizin New Year’s eve event.
His opponent, 24-year-old Kape, sports a professional record of 8-1 and has won all but one of his fights via stoppage. The Portuguese talent last fought at Marine Messe Fukuoka in Fukuoka, Japan, where he knocked out Erson Yamamoto in the opening round of the Grand Prix tournament.
The quarterfinal bout between McCall and Kape takes place tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 29 at Japan’s Saitama Super Arena. The winner will move on to Sunday’s semi-finals on New Year’s eve.
