Former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is booked against Michael Bisping, but he has just now decided when he wants the fight to go down – and it’s not for a while.
It looks like we’re going to see Georges St-Pierre’s return to the cage much later than we expected. The welterweight legend signed to meet UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping over two months ago, and many expected the fight to take place in the summer. Well, that hasn’t come to pass, and Bisping has been venting his frustrations about the delay.
Today, St-Pierre offered some clarity on the situation, explaining when he wants the fight. But it’s not what a lot of fans (or Bisping) will want to hear:

“Mr. Bisping, I cleared my entire schedule to get ready for training camp after the summer. So I can fight you any time after October. You pick the date. Let’s get it on.”
Here’s what Bisping had to say last month about the fight possibly taking place later in the year:
“Long story short, it looks like GSP is trying to push for a later date. I heard rumors of that a while ago from Ariel Helwani. I heard that they wanted September/October and that’s what the UFC told me as well. But I’m just throwing it out there right now, if he wants to wait until September or October, then he can go find himself another opponent, buddy. Because I call the shots. Without sounding like an a—hole, it’s my belt. I’m the champion and I’m not willing to sit around until September or October.”
We’ll see if Bisping sticks to his guns. Meanwhile, it could be that GSP is angling to have the fight in Madison Square Garden, where the promotion will hold a PPV in November. He has already hinted at it in a tweet a couple of days ago:
Big thanks @NYRangers for inviting me & Erik Owings @TheGarden for the game tonight! I could be fighting here in a few months… Can’t wait! pic.twitter.com/xfP8tiQueU
