She may have just missed America’s vote last night during her “Dancing with the Stars” finale (see who won here), but Paige VanZant has the seal of approval from one cinema legend.
Jean-Claude Van Damme — who is no stranger to mixed martial arts (MMA) after studying many forms of combat sports throughout his storied career — tells TMZ Sports he’s thrilled to have the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) strawweight contender on board for his latest movie, “Kickboxer: Retaliation.”
“Of course, of course she’s a great girl,” said Van Damme, who’s obviously a man of few words.
Paige, interestingly enough, caught the eye of producers through her appearance on DTWS and they eventually ordered a specific part be written for her in the film.
Not a bad consolation prize.
The movie does not have an official start date for filming, which means “12 Gauge” can start thinking about getting another bout under her belt before she concentrates on another venture outside the Octagon.
Though we know it won’t be at UFC 200.
Should her first venture into Tinseltown prove successful, don’t be surprised to see the “it” girl nab more and more roles down the line. Something that could ultimately affect how long she actually decides to stay in fight game.
It happened before, and it could happen again.
