Video: Rousey effectively shoots down any chance of UFC return

Comfortable with her new career in the WWE, former UFC champion Ronda Rousey doesn’t seem to be interested in returning to MMA.

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey recently made the switch from cage-fighting to pro wrestling, signing a full-time WWE contract earlier this year.

It’s been well over a year since Rousey’s last UFC appearance, a quick KO loss to current champion Amanda Nunes, and it’s long been assumed that it would likely be the final time fans would see Rousey inside the Octagon.

So is that the case? While she doesn’t say it outright, Rousey effectively told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres that the odds of her ever competing in MMA are slim and none.

“I don’t know [if I’ll return to the UFC],” said Rousey. “I think it’s just as likely as me going back to another Olympics for judo. No one demanded a written resignation from me for judo and I don’t really think the same thing is necessary for fighting. I’m just doing what I enjoy and WWE is what I enjoy right now.”

Rousey will go down as one of the biggest stars in MMA history, having been a feature attraction in Strikeforce before eventually becoming a pay-per-view draw in the UFC. Her run of dominance ended against Holly Holm at UFC 193, after which she was out of the limelight for much of 2016, even during the lead-up for the Nunes bout.

Dana White has said in past interviews that he doesn’t see Rousey coming back, and Ronda’s quotes on The Ellen Show appear to be further confirmation.

You can, however, watch Rousey at WrestleMania 34 on April 8th in New Orleans, Louisiana.
