Video: Tony Bellew knocks out David Haye

68 0

David Haye was likely sent into retirement after another knockout loss vs. Tony Bellew.

Last year, ex-cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew pulled off a surprise by stopping the favored former cruiserweight and heavyweight champion David Haye. The TKO came in the 11th round after Haye spent several rounds with an Achilles injury. This year, Bellew hurt Haye early, dropping him twice in round three, then sealing the deal with another knockdown in round five, followed by a few more punches after Haye got up.

One can only assume that we’ve seen the last of the 37-year-old, oft-injured Haye in the ring, whereas Bellew has his sights set on bigger fights, including a call out of the currently retired Andre Ward. Fighting the top guys in the stacked cruiserweight division is also a possibility.

Watch video of the knockdowns and the knockout itself in the clips below.

Here’s Bad Left Hook’s play-by-play of the final round:

Round 5: Bellew still not getting reckless. He knows the momentum is all his and that he’s got every advantage right now. Quick combo from Bellew, doesn’t get there but just the speed and timing of it had Haye a little rattled. HARD LEFT HOOK CATCHES HAYE SWINGING AND DOWN GOES DAVID HAYE AGAIN! Legs are gone. He’s gonna try to fight on. Bellew comes in, throws, and the referee stops it! Bellew TKO-5
