If there was any doubt that Tony Ferguson believes he deserves recognition as the best lightweight in the world, he cleared up the issue on Saturday.
“El Cucuy” finished Kevin Lee via third-round triangle choke submission in the main event of UFC 216 in Las Vegas to capture an interim lightweight title, then he used his post-fight interview time to call out undisputed champion Conor McGregor.
“Where you at McNuggets, ya f**king piece of s**t,” Ferguson said. “I’m gonna kick your ass. You better come and f**king defend that belt. Defend or vacate, motherf**ker.”
McGregor has yet to defend his belt after winning it from Eddie Alvarez last November. The only fight that “The Notorious” was involved in this year was a massive boxing match opposite Floyd Mayweather, and McGregor has not made any clear commitment on what he plans to do should he return to the Octagon.
