Check out UFC Soundwaves, a behind the scenes feature of last year’s rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.
The UFC has released a short feature showcasing some behind the scenes footage of the blockbuster welterweight rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz at UFC 202.
UFC Soundwaves focuses on McGregor’s pre-fight antics and the audio and reactions from both corners at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The video also shows referee Big John McCarthy commending both fighters, telling ‘The Notorious’ that he is a ‘great fu**ing warrior’.
2016’s Fight of the Year candidate saw McGregor and Diaz engage in a thrilling bout, with both men fighting toe-to-toe until the last minute. McGregor landed his best shots in the opening two rounds, dropping Diaz on multiple occasions and finding a home for several leg kicks.
The 31-year-old Diaz, who beat McGregor via rear-naked choke in their first bout at UFC 196, poured it on at the end of the second round and landed some nasty combinations in the third and fourth.
Both men bit down on their mouthpiece and refused to quit, but it was McGregor who walked away with the majority decision win, telling the fans in attendance that ‘the king is back’ in the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.
McGregor vs. Diaz II was an all-time classic and has been etched into the history books, with both fighters cementing their status as warriors of the sport.
Since the bout, SBG Ireland’s McGregor went on to dethrone lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 and is currently looking to sign a boxing match against pound-for-pound great Floyd Mayweather Jr. Diaz, as unpredictable and menacing as ever, has refused to fight until the UFC offers him a suitable, high-profile opponent.
