Before Vasyl Lomachenko defends his WBO 130 lbs title against Jason Sosa, watch HBO’s compilation of his best work.
It is not exaggeration to say Vasyl Lomachenko (7-1, 5 KOs) is in the running for #1 pound-for-pound boxer in the world. The two-time Olympic gold medalist had a staggering amateur record of 396-1 (and he avenged his only loss twice), and instead of taking the traditional route of fighting cans and journeyman before getting big contender bouts, he headed straight for the top guys. He won the WBO featherweight title in his third fight, making him the quickest world champion in boxing history. The Ukrainian jumped to 130 lbs in 2016 and captured the WBO title by knocking out Rocky Martinez last June, then defended his belt by making Nicholas Walters quit in their November showdown.
You can watch Lomachenko’s highlights at the top of the page, and watch him defend his WBO junior lightweight title against Jason Sosa on Saturday, April 8th. The HBO tripleheader broadcast starts at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT, which unfortunately starts at the same time as the UFC 210 pay-per-view, but thankfully we live in an era where DVRs exist!
