Zabit Magomedsharipov appeared to be cruising to a unanimous decision win in his second UFC fight.
But he wasn’t interested in going to the scorecards.
The highly touted Dagestani featherweight prospect picked up his 10th consecutive victory on Saturday in Shanghai, China, submitting one-time WSOF bantamweight title challenger Sheymon Moraes with only 30 seconds remaining in the featured preliminary bout of UFC Fight Night 122.
Known for his educated striking game, the 26-year-old Magomedsharipov appeared to be up big on the scorecards heading into the final stretch of his bout with Moraes. The two fighters found themselves battling on the mat at the close of Round 3, and it was Magomedsharipov who managed to snare an anaconda choke for his second submission finish in as many UFC appearances.
