Vitaly Bigdash beats Igor Svirid to claim ONE middleweight title after ‘Fight of the Year’ contender

Vitaly Bigdash and Igor Svirid put on a title fight to remember at Stadium Putra on Friday (Oct. 9, 2015) with the Russian challenger eventually prevailing over the Kazakh champion courtesy of a second round knockout. Their middleweight title fight was the main event of ONE: “Tigers of Asia.”
Bigdash had to weather an early storm from Svirid who rocked him with huge bombs which staggered the Russian on numerous occasions. Bigdash, however, survived the onslaught and finished off Svirid a few minutes into the second round with a knee and punch combination, followed by hammer fists on the ground.
“I know he is a very good fighter, a strong fighter, but I just wanted to go with the flow,” said Bigdash who improves to 8-0 while Svirid drops to 10-2
There were eight Malaysian fighters on the card and Ev Ting (10-3) took home a victory with a first round submission win over former feather champion Honorio Banario (8-5). The Filipino shot for a takedown but found himself instantly locked into a guillotine choke and was forced to tap.
