Vitor Belfort has switched camps ahead of the final fight of his contract with the UFC.
“The Phenom”, who has already officially announced his intent to retire from the sport after his UFC 212 clash with Nate Marquardt on June 3 in his hometown of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, decided to train for the bout at Montreal’s Tristar Gym.
MMA Fighting has confirmed the news after Tristar’s Alex Garcia posted a picture of Belfort with the team on his Instagram page. MMA Junkie first reported the news.
According to sources, Tristar coach Firas Zahabi will corner the Brazilian at UFC 212.
Belfort (25-13, 1 NC) last competed in March 11, losing to Kelvin Gastelum by first-round TKO. The defeat was recently overturned to a no-contest after his opponent tested positive for marijuana. The former UFC light heavyweight has only won one of his last five UFC bouts, a first-round knockout over Dan Henderson.
