Vitor Belfort will be making his last walk to the Octagon in Brazil.
The UFC is officially targeting a middleweight bout between Belfort and fellow veteran Nate Marquardt for UFC 212, which is set to take place on June 3 at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The original report was made by Combate, and was later confirmed by MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani.
Belfort, a former UFC champion and a legend in the sport, last fought in March in the main event of UFC Fight Night 106 where he suffered a technical knockout loss to Kelvin Gastelum. Following the defeat, the 40-year-old Belfort told the media at the post-fight conference that his next fight would be his last, stating that his body wasn’t the same as it used to be. “The Phenom” is currently 1-4 in his past five bouts, and 25-14 in his career as a professional fighter.
Meanwhile, Marquardt is coming off a decision loss to Sam Alvey earlier this year at UFC on FOX 23. The 38-year-old veteran, and former Strikeforce welterweight champion, is currently 2-2 in his past four bouts, and 35–17–2 in his MMA career.
