A UFC legend will return early next year.
Vitor Belfort will take on Uriah Hall at UFC St. Louis on Jan. 14, ESPN reported as official Tuesday night. Belfort had posted to social media last month that he would be fighting Hall, but the date was unknown until now.
Also on that Missouri card will be a women’s flyweight fight between Jessica Eye and Kalindra Faria.
Belfort (26-13) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Nate Marquardt at UFC 212 in June. That victory snapped a three-fight winless streak for “The Phenom.” When Belfort, 40, takes the Octagon in January, it’ll mark his 22nd year in professional mixed martial arts. The Brazilian star made his debut in 1996.
Hall (13-8) most recently defeated Krzysztof Jotko via second-round knockout at UFC Pittsburgh in September. The New York native was on a three-fight losing streak heading into that bout. Hall, 33, is a former Ultimate Fighter finalist and top prospect still trying to prove himself as a contender in the middleweight division.
Eye (11-6, 1 NC) was supposed to face Paige VanZant at UFC 216 last month, but VanZant pulled out due to injury and the bout was not put back together as expected. This will be Eye’s flyweight debut against Faria (18-6-1), who is coming off a loss to Mara Romero Borella in the bout that replaced Eye vs. VanZant at UFC 216.
UFC Fight Night 124 does not officially have a main event yet. The card marks the UFC’s first ever in St. Louis.
