Earlier today (March 20, 2017), former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Bellator MMA fighter Jon Koppenhaver — better known as “War Machine” — was found guilty on 29 of 34 charges for his attack on his ex-girlfriend Christy Mackinday (a.k.a. Christy Mack) and former reality show star, Corey Thomas, back in 2014.
From the MMA Fighting report:
Koppenhaver was found guilty on 29 of 34 possible charges by a Clark County jury, including sexual assault, battery and kidnapping. Three charges ended in a not guilty verdict, and the most severe charges — a pair of attempted murder charges — resulted in a mistrial due to a hung jury.
Mack was hospitalized following the assault, which resulted in a broken face, missing teeth, fractured bones, attempted rape and more carnage, forcing her to cancel promotional appearances in “Sin City.” Mack hit the witness stand last week to recall the harrowing events that left her clinging to life (photos here) following the attack, which took place in her Las Vegas residence.
Koppenhaver — who turned down two previous plea deals — pleaded “not guilty” to the charges. His sentencing is scheduled to take place on June 5, 2017, in Las Vegas. For an extensive background on this case, including police reports, eyewitness testimony and much more, click here.
