Before Saturday night and Canelo Alvarez vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, watch the two fighters face off with HBO’s Max Kellerman.
On Saturday night, HBO Boxing returns to PPV with a strange sort of fight – Canelo Alvarez vs. Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. Since the fight announcement there have been questions about why it was made, but as we get closer to fight night, interest is indeed there for this all-Mexico showdown.
In the lead-up to the fight, HBO has put together their latest installment of Face Off with Max Kellerman. It’s a chance to watch the two fighters come face to face while being forced to sit backwards in a chair as if that’s the most natural thing in the world. Watch the Canelo vs. Chavez Jr. Face Off video right here at Bloody Elbow (above) or on HBO’s YouTube page.
This is an interesting edition of Face Off largely because of the role each man is playing in this fight build-up. To most fans. Chavez has been hated in recent fights due to his lack of effort in the gym and missing weight. But here, he openly mocks Canelo for his match-making choices (choices which, it has to be said, include fighting Chavez himself) and manages to ingratiate himself to fans. It’s a bit hampered by Chavez’s lack of comfort with the English language, but still, it’s an intriguing watch that, like all HBO videos, gets me just a bit more excited to see how things play out Saturday night.
