Former Invicta FC strawweight champion and Ultimate Fighter alum Angela Hill looked to make good on her Octagon return last night (Sat., Feb. 4, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 104 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, as she took on top-tier title contender Jessica Andrade in an ultra-important battle at 115 pounds. It wasn’t official, but the two women were fighting for the chance to challenge current UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk later this year.
Hill did her best in the early going to maintain distance and pick at Andrade from distance, but the Brazilian slugger made her way in and slammed “Overkill” with heavy combinations to the head and body. To much surprise, the chin of Hill looked absolutely sensational in the close exchanges, as she did her best to respond with knees in the clinch and looping power shots with her back on the cage. In the end, the round-to-round aggression and powerful combinations by Andrade were more than enough to capture the unanimous decision win in a Fight of the Night candidate.

With this win, Andrade moves even closer to a title shot opposite Jedrzejczyk. The Brazilian was previously offered to fight the champion, but she wanted to test herself one more time at strawweight before fighting the most dominant female force in the sport. Hill showed she was much improved since her first UFC stint, so it looks like Andrade got what she needed before cashing in on her well-deserved title shot.
