Prior to his record-tying title defense last month against Wilson Reis, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson made noise about wanting 10 title belts to symbolize his record-tying run of title defenses.
After DJ’s stoppage victory in Kansas City, UFC president Dana White indicated that while the UFC no longer gives the winner of every title match a new belt, they’d do their best to honor Mighty Mouse’s request.
A few weeks later, here it is. Johnson posted to Instagram a picture with all 10 title belts Wednesday morning.
MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani reported that “Mighty Mouse” will get to keep all the gold. But he had made it clear he was mainly interested in having a picture taken with the hardware, a memento for tying Anderson Silva’s record for most UFC title defenses at UFC on FOX 24.
