David Branch won the World Series of Fighting middleweight championship by defeating Jesse Taylor by submission at WSOF 10 in June 2014. He defended his title for the first time later that year against Yushin Okami at WSOF 15. He then won the WSOF light heavyweight crown by defeating Teddy Holder by submission at WSOF 23 in September. On Saturday, Branch defended his middleweight belt for the second time.
Branch dominated Clifford Starks in the fight card’s main event at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. He defeated Starks by unanimous decision with all three judges’ scorecards reading 49-44. Branch was deducted a point in the second round for and illegal knee, or it would have been scored 50-44.
Fitch controlled the fight with relentless pressure. He put Zeferino on his back regularly and scored with his ground and pound attack. After five rounds, the judges scored the one-sided fight 50-45 in Fitch’s favor.
