The World Series of Fighting announced some new signings Tuesday, including a very familiar name.

Veteran John Howard, who competed in the UFC 14 times spread over two stints, has signed on to compete with the promotion. Howard last fought at UFC Fight Night 80 in December against Tim Means, where he suffered a second-round knockout. Overall, he has lost four of five fights after scoring upset victories over Siyar Bahadurzada and Uriah Hall in 2013.

WSOF president Ray Sefo stated in his “Executive Action” column that he still believed the 33-year-old “Doomsday” has more fight in him.

“John has had a few tough losses in recent years, but I believe he still has a lot of to offer this sport, and I look forward to him debuting for us later this year,” Sefo said.

WSOF also announced that upstart Bryce Mitchell (5-0) had signed a new deal, fresh off his submission victory over Jorge Medina at WSOF 27, as well as the German prospect, Abu Azaitar (11-1), who has appeared in the Polish-based KSW and Cage Warriors promotions.
