Yoel Romero says Luke Rockhold didn’t want to fight him, Rockhold fires back

Yoel Romero and Luke Rockhold are engaging in the kind of Twitter war that will make fans want to see them fight even more.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be in the cards any time soon for the UFC middleweight stars.

Romero tweeted Sunday that Rockhold “didn’t want to fight him” and then called out UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping. Rockhold fired back Monday that Romero was the one who didn’t want to take the fight in the main event of UFC Fight Night on Sept. 16, because he didn’t want to go five rounds.

@yoelromeromma you’re the pussy that didn’t wanna fight 5 rounds. September 16th was offered.

It went on like that for a bit, with Romero writing that Rockhold refused to fight him while he was middleweight champion and used a hashtag referring to Rockhold’s ex Demi Lovato.

20 days too much to wait for the guy who needed 14 months to recover from pillow hand @bisping ?? #sorrynotsorry #mrlovato

Rockhold slammed Romero for breaking the “lowest PPV record” against Robert Whittaker at UFC 213 earlier this year, saying he took the “money fight” in Chris Weidman as champion. Rockhold capped the beef by saying Romero is a “cheater.”

remember your last fight where u broke the lowest PPV record and didn’t make a dime. I took the money fight which was Weidman

what you are is a cheater

Rockhold, 32, will face David Branch in the main event of UFC Fight Night 116 on Sept. 16 in Pittsburgh, it was announced by the UFC over the weekend. He has not fought since dropping the belt to Bisping at UFC 199 in June 2016. Romero, meanwhile, is coming off the unanimous decision loss to Whittaker and will be trying to jump back into the title picture in his next fight.
