This past week at our @mergingvetsandplayers meeting we asked our vets what about their service makes them PROUD of themselves. First 3 refused to answer until my boy and partner @nateboyer37 spoke up, said he’s proud he CHOSE to go over and fight when he didn’t have to anymore to take the place of someone else, someone who may have been a dad or a husband. That may be the most American and selfless thing I’ve ever heard but it got the ball rolling and one by one our veterans started realizing it was ok to talk about something they are proud of.
We also realized one of the issues they are facing is they are taught to NOT individualize in the military, thus for many its hard for them to be proud of themselves for their service.
Today, I am asking all our military and vets to PLEASEEE celebrate what you did for our independence the way we celebrate you! Be Proud!!! I understand there’s a lot of ugly seen by many of you, but that just shows how much more resilient you are than the rest of us. We thank you, we salute you but most of all we love you!
Pic from hike our MVPers did earlier this year. I’m proud to walk the walk to higher heights with you all.
