Cody Garbrandt won the UFC bantamweight belt Friday night against Dominick Cruz.
Before the fight he wanted to defend the belt against TJ Dillashaw and then John Lineker.
After winning the belt, he said he wanted to rematch Dominick Cruz.
Just over two days later he told Ariel Helwani he’d like to take money fights against Jose Aldo at 145,
or against Conor McGregor at a catchweight of 150.
Aldo was expected to unify the featherweight belt with Max Holloway at UFC 208, but Holloway’s ankle is hurt,
then Aldo was offered a interim lightweigt title fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov, but Dana White says Khabib’s dad told him not to take it,
the UFC originally wanted Khabib vs Tony Ferguson for an interim title, but Ferguson is requesting more money,
lightweight champ Conor McGregor could defend the belt in his next fight but also has interest in fighting Tyron Woodley for the welterweight title,
Woodley is willing to do that but he should rematching Stephen Thompson,
but he’s more interested in welteweight money fights with fighters such as Nick Diaz and Georges St-Pierre.
And now he wants to fight for the middleweight title against Michael Bisping .
Bisping is down to do that, but should be defending his belt against Yoel Romero. But Bisping also has been pursuing bigger name fighters such as GSP, who he was
willing to fight on short notice in December, but then turned down fighting Jacare Souza on short notice.
Tuesday marks 2 years since Cody Garbrandt’s UFC debut, Garbrandt was able to win the belt in just 3 days shy of 2 years,
which is one of the fastest climbs to the title in UFC history.
Brock Lesnar was able to win the heavyweight belt just 9 months and 13 days after making his UFC debut.
